East Yorkshire MP Sir Greg Knight has visited Pocklington Junior School to speak about the work of an MP.

Sir Greg visited at the invitation of head teacher Mr Alex Reppold. He explained how laws are made at Westminster, gave an insight into the work of a Member of Parliament and answered questions about Britain’s democratic system.

Sir Greg said: “I was delighted to visit the school and explain the workings of Parliament. I believe that it is important that MPs visit schools and explain our system of government to pupils so that they learn about how are laws are made before they reach voting age.”

Sir Greg added: “I was very impressed with the interesting and varied questions from the students and pleased to see their interest in our democracy”.
