Local politicians have been out and about in East Yorkshire reviewing the flooding risk following this month’s heavy rainfall.

East Yorkshire MP Sir Greg Knight, Yorkshire MEP Timothy Kirkhope and East Riding Councillor Andy Burton toured the region looking at flood risk hot spots.

They concluded their review with an hour and a half long visit to Stamford Bridge, which is one of the high flood risk villages in the area.

The existing flood defences at Stamford Bridge were inspected by the team who intend to prepare a report on the situation once the bad weather subsides.

Sir Greg said today: “The risk of flooding is far from over, so we will be reviewing the whole matter once river levels have returned to something like normal. In the meantime, we hope this current spell of severe wet weather is coming to an end.
