East Yorkshire MP Sir Greg Knight said today that he is ”delighted” with the news that EDF Energy has withdrawn a planning application for a new wind farm at High Wood, near Tibthorpe, in East Yorkshire, with the company citing the new policy of the Conservative Government, as the reason for so doing.

Sir Greg said: “I have no doubt that this change would not have happened if the new policy which abolishes the subsidy and proposes giving residents a greater say, had not been introduced.”

The MP adds: “Hopefully, this now means that the East Riding will see an end to further unwanted on-shore wind farm development which was threatening to completely blight our beautiful landscape.”

Sir Greg, who is the Parliamentary Vice-Chair of the campaigning group Together Against Wind, adds: “I am obviously very pleased that the policies I have advocated and supported are now being implemented -and are clearly working as intended.
