East Yorkshire MP Sir Greg Knight has joined Jobcentre Plus to host a jobs-boosting breakfast meeting in Bridlington. The event was held to encourage local employers to employ local young people.
The ‘jobs breakfast’ was attended by 30 local businesses and comes at a time when unemployment in the area is falling, with many businesses considering taking on more staff.
At the breakfast, employers were given a presentation on incentives on offer to them under the ‘Youth Contract’ including the wage incentive, work trials and various grants.
Following the event Sir Greg said, “We need to see that local businesses are aware of the many Government incentives on offer for taking on new staff. These include a Government payment of up to £2,275 for employing an eligible young person”.
