East Yorkshire MP Greg Knight is backing the Bridlington Town Improvement Forum to become a ‘Town Team Partner’.

The Town Team Partnership programme, funded by the Department of Communities and Local Government, is being launched following the Government’s retail review by Mary Portas. The scheme will help boost trade on high streets and in town centres.

The scheme, which Bridlington can only join because of the backing of Mr Knight, will not only give traders access to expert advice and networking forums, but it will also provide £10,000 to be used for marketing the Bridlington town centre.

Mr Knight said, “Retailers across the country have been hit hard by the global economic conditions. I welcome this scheme particularly because it aims to help independent and often family owned small business. I look forward to the Town Team Partnership driving new ideas and enthusiasm and hopefully new jobs in Bridlington’s town centre.”
